Jonathan came in on Saturday to do some more work on stripping down carriage plugs.
On Sunday a full compliment of volunteers turned up consisting of Jonathan, Len, John, Clive and myself, first job as usual was to test out the fire alarm call points in BBS and The Trackside, Len and Jonathan set about this task.
Fire alarm action signs had arrived so I fitted one in the booking hall at BBS and one on the booking hall bridge, these tell people to ring 9-999 in case of fire and tell everyone were to assemble in case of fire.
I fitted another sign in the cafe on platform 3/4, telling the staff that the nearest fire alarm call point is at the bottom of the stairs from the booking hall.
The last two signs I fitted in The Trackside Pub/Cafe one adjacent to the fire call point at the entrance door and one in the kitchen, these signs are a statutary requirement.
Clive and John meanwhile went up to Summerseat Station to reset the Station lights electronic timer after the scouts Saturday night ramble.
The timer is now set for winter settings, coming on on Saturday and Sunday 15:30 to 18:30.
Len, Jonathan and myself set off to the C & W workshop to fit some more refurbished carriage plugs.
We replaced a broken pattress and recovered two aluminium pattress covers which were covered in grunge.
We made our way back to our workshop for some lunch and a brew, being joined by Clive and John who had returned from their job at Summerseat.
The time clock on platform 3/4 was then reset for winter, the lights to come on Saturday and Sunday 15:30 to 17:00 hrs.
A time clock for BBS security lights was repaired a faulty motor being the problem this job will be finished next week.
John & Len then set about soldering up the cleaned pins off the carriage plugs, new cable had been cut to length, ten new leads were completed.
Some old pins were then stripped of old wiring and then dunked in the vinegar bottle to clean some of the grunge off them.
It was brought to our attention that one of the BBS flurescent light fittings needs changing this is scaffold job for next week.
What a day it had been decent weather and plenty of people riding on the trains.
