Jonathan was in again on Saturday working on the stripping and painting of the carriage plug shells and cleaning up five MK2 moulded carriage plugs ready for refitting to some of the newly refurbished MK2 carriages.
Len, John, Jonathan and myself came in on Sunday, first job as usual was to check out the fire alarm call points at BBS and The Trackside this was done by Len and Jonathan.
One of the call points in BBS was found to be faulty this was logged and reported.
John and myself set about fitting and testing a new element for one of Roger's Burco boilers, this was completed and checked for any water leaks.
Whilst in our workshop it was reported to us that the hot water boiler for hot drinks in the cafe on platform 3/4 was not producing hot water we said we would check it out after lunch.
We then gathered up our tools and four carriage plugs to fit to one of the refurbished carriages in The Carriage & Wagon workshop.
This carriage needed crimp terminals fitting to the carriage wiring first before we fitted a set of new carriage plugs, we finished off that carriage before going back to our workshop for a brew and some lunch.
Next task was to establish what the problem was with the hot water boiler for the hot drinks, we discovered that it wasn't an electrical problem but a water problem, the boiler was not filling up with cold water past the non return valve in the water inlet to the boiler.
The valve does not appear to be sticking as we could easily press it, then release it and it would go back to it's original position, further investigation is required next week.
In the meantime to enable the Cafe to provide hot drinks we asked Roger if the Cafe could borrow the newly repaired Burco boiler to keep them going for The Teddy Bears Picnic day tomorrow.
We then carried on assembling more refurbished carriage plugs, after which we had another brew and the packed it in for the day.
