The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 27-9-2015.

Post by asbibby »

:) The electrical volunteers today consisted of myself, Clive, Jonathan and Len John was on birthday duties at home.

Len and Jonathan did the fire alarm call point tests in the Trackside and Bury Bolton Street Station concourse, everything worked OK and the results were logged.

Simon the full time ELR electrician showed us the holes that had been dug on platform two in BBS, two of the painted lamp posts have already been erected and the holes backfilled.
A tremendous job well done by the PW staff.
Is it possible to remove from the top, the cap on one of the lamp posts, it needs to be removed, also one of the lamp posts which is still to be erected requires the cap on top of the post removed before it is erected.
This will help us a great deal when we erect the new lamp heads on top of the new posts. 8)
The remaining lamp posts have the caps already removed.

It was decided to carry on with the conversion of the platform three/four lamp heads which we are refurbishing and rewiring to accommodate the new LED lighting tubes.
We have now completed the three refurbished ex. Nuneaton lamp heads ready for fitting once the remaining lamp posts have been erected.
The new lamp posts require a strip of wood fitting in the base of the lamp posts so that we can install new mains connection modules complete with a fuse.
New curved inspection covers will have to be manufactured as none of the lamp posts have any inspection covers.

We also managed to finish off three out of the five lamp heads from platform three/four, just two to complete in the next few weeks after the Thomas weekend.
These lamp heads are also being modified to accommodate LED lighting tubes. :D

That was it for another week in the electrical department.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
