We nearly had a full team out on Sunday, myself, Jonathan, Clive and John, Len sent us a text to say he was still feeling unwell and wouldn't be in today.After Saturday's glorious weather, Sunday started off a bit miserable, wet and windy as the actress said to the Bishop.
We sorted out the workshop first, finding room for various bits and pieces which have been given to us, after which we had a brew before deciding what job's to do first.
I had received a pm on the forum asking us to have a look at light fitting, which appeared to have come adrift when the toilet on the end of Bury South signal box had received a bit of remedial work.
After a visit to see what the problem was it was back to the workshop to source some tools and make good the conduit work which had become detached from a small light fitting.
Jonathan and myself did the fire alarm call point checks in BBS and The Trackside and recorded our findings in the log books.
A report had also been received from Tate Towers that some light fittings were not illuminating, again this turned out to be some blown fluorescent tubes which were replaced. We are still one tube short as our stock was depleted following our tube change in the carriage & wagon shed.
lunch was then taken and a chat with some friends of John who want some ballast for his canal barge, about a ton of scrap cast iron or steel is required, anyone know of any scrap he is willing to pay scrap prices.
He is a marine engine engineer working on ships, oil rigs etc. a very interesting and well traveled occupation, lets hope when he retires he fancies helping out on the ELR as a volunteer!
Twelve completed carriage plug leads were touched up with black paint, ready to be swapped with old carriage plug leads when the weather gets a bit warmer.
We then did more work on the ex. Nuneaton station light fittings, two are now nearly complete with all new internal components, these will be fitted eventually onto lamp posts on platform two.
We had one last brew before calling it a day, no cake today, must remember to visit the cake shop this week for new supplies!
Let's hope Simon orders some spare five foot tubes for next week, fingers crossed in hope!
