The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 26-05-2024

Post by asbibby »

:D Today on the ELR forties bank holiday weekend i was joined by Peter, Colin and Sophie, we all had a brew before deciding what tasks to do today.
We had been given a Burco water heater to see if we could find out what was wrong with it, after stripping down the boiler, the problem appeared to be corrosion around the valves into the water container and various electrical components were also corroded, the conclusion was that it should be scrapped.

It was reported to us early morning that two of the lights in Bury Bolton Street Station booking hall adjacent to the ticket inspectors booths were not working. On removing the covers and checking it was found that both D type 4 pin bulbs were blown, these were replaced, but the emergency light fitting is still faulty requiring more investigation to find out why it still did not work.

A few weeks ago we checked out the stairway lighting leading up to the education room in Bury Transport Museum, we replaced some D type bulbs in the fittings which had blown.
A couple of the light fittings we had previously had difficulty removing the covers, with a bit more effort we managed to remove the covers and replaced another couple of 4 pin D type bulbs.
Back in our workshop we left a note for the ELLR electrician to order some replacement 4 pin D type and other bulbs to facilitate the replacement of bulbs which were found to be blown.

We than had lunch back in our workshop with a brew before calling it a day, we shall be back next Sunday.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
