The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 23-10-2022

Post by marflow »

No Alan or Colin this week. Alan on the ocean waves and Colin on a family mission. Len came. After health problems. Nice to see him again. And Jonathan, Jack(John) and myself. Plus Geoff, a potential new member. We'll have to meld him in to our special ways!
First. A brew. Why not? Then to find out what was wrong with that square clock (squock). It's given more trouble than all the other clocks put together over 15 years! Anyway. Turned out to be a broken wire on the power supply. Let's hope that it'll be ok now.
Then, we were hoping to go to Summerseat to do some wood-butchery on the electrical cabinet. If you recall, we had to break our way in because the lock was jammed full of beetle. But the weather wasn't suitable.
Anyway. It became lunch time.
After that, we went through the Christmas festoons for Heywood, Ramsbottom, Rawtenstall and Bury P2. Cleaned all the holders. Many had become water logged. Must've been a damp year, 2021. And replaced the popped bulbs. All tested good. Except the bury p2 ones. Even with all the bulbs out and the holders cleaned out, it keeps blowing a 13amp fuse. That's over 3 kilowatts! That's going to take some finding. May have to break it up into a few sections. We ran out of time. So will carry on with this search another time.
Somewhere along the way, I'm sure we had a brew. No cake!
Deep in the very heart of Somewhere
