The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 10-04-2022.

Post by asbibby »

:D Today i was joined by Jonathan, Colin, Sophie, and John, we had a brew and a breakfast muffin from the staff canteen.
First task was to sort out Bury Bolton Street Station clock on platform 3/4 which we had spotted last Sunday.

We went for our mobile tower scaffold, it was missing again, so we had to fall back on borrowing the Bury Standard 4 Group scaffold.
This we did and erected the scaffold to sort out the clock face, the clock face facing north was disconnected and Colin adjusted the clock minute and hour finger to the correct position.
The time was corrected on both clock faces as we had disconnected the electronics from the clock to sort out the problem. :)

We were introduced to a member who had been in the electrical department 20 years previously, welcome on board Steve who then helped us to take down the scaffold and return it to BS4G. :)

Lunch was the taken outside of our workshop in the warm sunshine with a brew and cakes supplied by Sue Sue, Mr Kiplings finest. :D

We did some work on a large square clock given to us some time ago, the metal frame had been sanded down previously so some primer paint was applied and left to dry.

A job we had nearly forgotten about was to find some wood to back two enamel station sign from Heywood Station, some wood was sourced and cut to length outside our workshop.
Colin will use his jigsaw at home to cut them to the correct shape, and then we will treat them with wood preservative before they are put back in place at Heywood Station.

We all had a final brew and finished off the cakes, before packing away all our gear and retiring for the day

It was decided that we would give volunteering a miss over the Easter period and we shall be back the week after. 8)
