The Electrical Volunteers report Sunday 26-09-2021.

Post by asbibby »

:D A full team in again today, Jonathan, Jack, Len, Colin, Clive and myself, first job after a brew was to test the fire alarm call points in Bury Bolton Street Station, all was well and the log book dutifully filled in. :P

We then carried on with the overbridge lights at BBS fitting and re-wiring the emergency light fittings with LED strip lighting which had been sourced by a volunteer.
The tests worked well and we now have emergency lights which will work when the mains electricity fails and it means that we can now go ahead and fit LED tubes in the light fittings also. Clive as ordered some miniature 240 volt relays to fit in the other eight light fittings we need to modify, these relays drop out when the mains fails switching the battery power to the new LED strip lighting. :D

An early lunch was then taken in the afternoon sunshine.

The station staff informed us that some lights in the gents and ladies toilets were not illuminated, on inspection it was found that two 4 pin D type bulbs had failed in the ladies toilets on platform 3/4. These were replaced and tested by covering up the photo-cells. 8)

In the gents toilets two D type bulbs had also failed, we only managed to change one D type as these were two pin and we could only find one spare, a note was left for Simon to order some more.

A final brew was had with some of Mr. Kiplings finest cakes supplied by Sue, Sue. Mmmmmmm.

John and myself will be in next Sunday helping out on the Thomas train.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
