A brew was called for before we started work, along with a piece of Swiss jam roll brought in by Len.
Two of the twin light units out of the Trackside pub had taken down for refurbishment and one had been replaced by the four light unit which we had previously refurbished.
One of the twin light units is now ready to be re-fitted after being painted black and rewired ready for LED lights to be fitted, the other twin light fitting was also rewired and now needs rubbing down and painting.
Len sourced some washers which required the centre hole being made bigger, our friends from Bury standard 4 workshop found a suitable sized drill and drilled the washers for us using their pillar drill.
These washers are needed for the refurbishment of the internal Trackside pub light fittings which we are on with.
Lunch was taken El Fresco in the glorious sunshine before commencing work again
We then turned our attention to the Smiths speedometer off 80097 which has now had new bearings fitted, a new coil fitted out of a spare DMU speedo. This coil has required a bit of fettling to make it fit in the original steam speedometer housing.
Some new whitworth studs have been made and fitted and some silver soldered connections made to connect up the electrical wiring on the speedo generator to the compensator and finally to the speedo head in the cab.
Testing will take place once we find the magnet which goes on the end of the shaft, our CME has it i hope.
Some rubbing down of the generator outer cover was undertaken prior to undercoat and top coat in grey.
Before leaving we had a final brew with a piece of cheesecake each, which had been brought in by John, back next week for some more electrical shenanigans.
