Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 8th Nov 2015

Today it was me, Len, Clive and John.
The fire alarms were tested as usual.
The main job today was putting the Christmas lights up at Rammy. The scaffolding and boxes of lights were loaded onto the DMU. The weather was wet and miserable. By the time we got to Rammy it had just about stopped raining. We unloaded all the stuff and erected the scaffolding. We put up the first string of lights on the platform suspended from lamp posts. We then had dinner in front of the waiting room fire.
After dinner we did the second string of lights under the canopy. We used the long ladder for this borrowed from the station. We then dismantled the scaffolding and loaded the stuff onto the DMU for Bury.
We had been informed that the platform lights at Heywood were not working so we stayed on the train and went to Heywood. During the 15 minutes that the train was stood at Heywood, we investigated the problem. We found that the time clock needed to be re-programmed. We did this and tested the lights. They were found to be OK. We got back on the train for Burry.
After putting the scaffolding away we knocked off for a brew and some Birthday cake.
Next week we hope to do Rawtenstall lights and replace a lot of blown bulbs at Rammy. Simon has some on order.
