SUNDAY VOLUNTEERS REPORT 30/08/15

Today it was me, Clive, John and Len. The fire alarms were tested as usual. We then retreated to the workshop away from the crowds for the rest of the day.
The standard 4 shop had given us three, model electric train controllers to be PAT tested before putting them on sale to the public. These were tested, passed and returned.
Carriage & Wagons had given us an old telecoms system from a DMU. This consists of two identical units, one for each of the driver’s compartments plus a unit to fit in the guard’s van. This enables the guard to communicate with the driver.
We spent most of the day stripping out the old components from the three units. We replaced these with modern components and replaced all internal wiring. We then wired the three units together to test them. We managed to get the system to work but it will need some minor adjustments before they can be put back into service.
That will do for this week. We had a final brew and knocked off.
