The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 23-08-2015.

Post by asbibby »

:D A full team of Electrical volunteers turned up today, Sunday, John, Jonathan, Clive, Len and myself, along with Simon the full time ELR electrician.

We started off with a brew as per usual, Jonathan and Len did the usual fire alarm call point checks on the BBS Concourse and The Trackside, everything worked satisfactory and they recorded their findings.

We had been asked a couple of weeks ago by John Tate to install a double socket in the conference suite in "Tate Towers" to avoid a tripping hazard, so with all the bits we needed for the job purchased last week we all set off to Baron Street.
Clive had brought his jig saw to cut a hole in the floor and then we had to fish the cable under the floor to a double socket a couple of metres away, some metalwork was stopping us from fishing the cable to the required position so a hole was forced through the thin metal floor, then fished underneath the bottom of the building and pushed up from the outside of the building into a position near the wall mounted double socket.
It was then all wired up and tested, before cleaning up with the hoover of all the debris we had created, job done. 8)

We then made our way back to our workshop for some lunch and a brew.

John, Clive and Len spent the rest of the afternoon investigating the wiring of an intercom from a DMU which requires a lot of TLC.
This will be the subject of a bit of re-design work to enable it to work satisfactory again. :?

Jonathan and myself went to the Bury Standard Four workshop to look into providing an additional three phase 32 Amp socket, measuring up how much cable would be required and the circuit breaker etc. These will all be priced up and purchased by the BS4G before being completed.

We all had a final brew before calling it a day, back next week for the Peppa Pig day out.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
