Just the four of us in today, John, Jonathan, Len and myself, Clive was attending the Wigan radio club competition. :P

Len and Jonathan went off to do the fire alarm call point tests in BBS Concourse and The Trackside, all was well and they recorded their findings.

John had managed during the week to obtain the locking nuts and spring washers we required, for fixing the information board lights in Bury Transport Museum.

We had a brew and a natter before collecting our tools and equipment and made our way to the Museum in Castlecroft yard.
Len and John fitted the new locking nuts on the two lighting units we had rewired last week whilst Jonathan and myself measured off lengths of three core cable and stripped and tinned all the wires for rewiring the remaining units.

The task is quite labour intensive, first we have to saw off the top of the lighting post to gain access to the light fitting, then strip out the electrical light unit along with the wiring and earthing point.
The light unit is then refitted with a spring washer and nut before installing the new three core cable and relocating the earth point at the top of the lighting unit, the mains plug is then finally wired onto the new cable.

lunch was taken back in our workshop after we had completed three of the units, it was then back to the museum to complete another three units before we called it a day.
This leaves us with another twelve still to do at this rate we will still be doing them again for the next few weeks.

They will all have to be PAT tested once more once we have finished the job.
