The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 24-3-2013.

On a bitterly cold Sunday morning i was joined by Simon the full time electrician, Len, John, Clive and Jonathan, Jonathan and Len went off to check out the fire alarm call points in The Trackside and Bury Bolton Street Station, everything was satisfactory and they recorded their findings in the appropriate log books.
We had some yummy home baked biscuits with our first brew of the day courtesy of Clive's wife Sarah, they dissapeared faster than a rat up a drain.
Simon requested some help in sorting out a CCTV problem so Clive offered to assist.
Clive had also sourced a fusible link to repair a heater which had been left outside our workshop a couple of months ago, Jonathan effected the replacement of the link and this two kilowatt heater now works fine, keeping us warm in the workshop.
Simon had brought in a used Rittall metal cabinet for us to use in the rewiring of Bury Bolton Street Station, the box required some holes which had previously been cut in the box welding up, we spoke to the engineers in The Bury Standard Four workshop to see if they would sort out the cabinet for us, they happily agreed and the cabinet was dropped off in their workshop after lunch.
We collecting all our PAT testing equipment and tools before making our way to the Carriage & Wagon workshop to carry on with the PAT testing of all the portable electrical equipment, drills, angle grinders, buffing machines, various types of electrical heaters and MIG welders.
Most of the electrical items have now been tested, labeled and logged on the PAT testing machine.
Whilst at the C & W workshop we replaced two carriage plug lead covers and collected from around the workshop some old carriage plug parts which we will strip down to their component parts to refurbish them.
It was then back to our workshop for some lunch, Clive meanwhile had been working on the new consumer unit which we are going to use in the rewiring of BBS Station.
Then it was back to the C & W workshop to carry on with PAT testing and repairing the various electrical appliances, tools etc.
An oil filled electrical heater failed the test and will have to be brought back to our workshop for investigation, it is heavy so we will have to see if it can be transported by train to our workshop.
Whilst in the C & W workshop we refurbished and fitted new washers and nuts to three carriage plug connecting pattress's, another four of these pattress's were refurbished when we returned to our workshop, with that and a final brew of the day finished for the day.

It will not be a problem Jimmy, the electrical department have a laptop computer on which Simon the full time ELR electrician downloads all the PAT testing data for future reference, Departments, types of power tools tested, dates, etc. are all recorded.
