ELECTRICAL VOLUNTEERS REPORT 9th DECEMBER
Posted: Tue Dec 11, 2012 11:22 am
On Saturday I used the blow lamp to solder the brass pins onto 18 new carriage connector leads. There are three pins on each lead. One pin differs slightly from the other two.
On Sunday it was just me and Clive. The lights at Summerseat were not working so we got the 10-20 am train. After some testing we found two separate faults. The first was a faulty timer. We had brought a new timer up with us so we took the circuit board out of the new timer and exchanged it for the old one.
The second fault was the photo cell. Since we had not brought a ladder and the photo cell is at the top of a lamp post we decided to put a temporary link at the bottom of the post to bypass the photo cell. The lights should now work just off the timer. The photo cell will be sorted out some other fine day.
We got the next train from Summerseat to Rammy. We changed a blown light bulb in a lamp post on platform 2. We were then informed by the signal man that the lamp post outside of the signal box was not working. We attempted to change the bulb but we could not get the cover off the lamp post head as there was a captive screw that was spinning round inside. We decided to take the head off and take it back to the workshop for repair.
We got a train from Rammy to Rawtenstall and adjusted the clock in the booking hall as it was running slightly slow.
We got the next train back to Burry. We did some work on the lamp post head from Rammy signal box before having a brew and knocking off.
