On Saturday Jonathan came in to repaint one of the BBS canopy light fittings which we had swapped last week, it was stripped down, repainted and tested ready for reuse.
Sunday saw a full team out again, Jonathan, Clive, Len, John and myself, Jonathan had been asked yesterday if we could fix the light fitting in the glass display unit in the cafe on platform three/four.
We stripped the display down to gain access to the light fitting, the fault being the fluorescent tube which was replaced.
We then got our mobile scaffold tower out of storage and loaded it up with Ramsbottom Christmas lights, some spare 15Watt bulbs, tie wraps and our tools. The 09:50 train hauled by Sapper took us up to Ramsbottom Station were we unloaded all the equipment.
Two strings of Christmas lights were installed, a lamp check was done, only about a dozen lamps needed changing.
Thanks to the Station staff at Ramsbottom for donating a strong luggage box for us to store some of our Christmas lights, one of the boxes we had been using was way past it's sell by date.
When we were satisfied everything was OK we caught the next train back to BBS hauled by the standard tank.
Lunch was then taken in our workshop after a meeting with Phil from Bury South signal box, re. some extra sockets in the box, a new ring main system for these existing and new sockets will have to be investigated.
Next job after lunch was to install the string of Christmas lights on Platform two at BBS, this was done along with a lamp test, about thirty lamps required changing. They were wired up to our timer box that controls these lights.
Last job was to install the Christmas lights outside The Trackside Pub/Cafe, again a lamp check was done with around six or seven lamps changed.
The scaffold was then dismantled and stored away again.
A brew and the remains of John's lemon cake was then demolished, that was it for another day.
Next Sunday back to maintenance tasks.
