A full team turned out today, John was back from his sojurn to the south of France. John, Jonathan, len, Clive and myself met up in our workshop, Jonathan and myself were first in so we set about servicing our mobile tower scaffold the wheels had been removed so needed to be refitted and serviced to ensure free running and whilst we had the wheels in pieces we fettled the brake system.

Jonathan was then joined by Len who set to testing the fire alarm call points in The Trackside and BBS, all was well and the findings were recorded.

Once the scaffold tower was servicible we loaded up the Christmas lights for Heywood Station and a spare fluorescent light fitting for the platform on BBS.
We had time to spare before the second train was due to take us up to Heywood, three of the fluorescent light fittings would not work so we erected the scaffold under the first unit that wasn't working, the fault turned out to be no neutral circuit, we did a temporary fix connecting up to the second fluorescent unit to obtain a neutral, this worked OK.
The wiring to the station canopy lights is life expired and needs to be renewed ASAP.

The train then arrived hauled by the welcome return of The Duke of Gloucester to take us up to Heywood Station.
On arriving at Heywood the Christmas lights and scaffold were unloaded and we set about installing the two string of lights on the platform, after installation a lamp check was done and about twenty dull bulbs were changed.

A late Lunch was then taken, then we caught the Duke back to BBS to carry on with the platform lights problem, because lights one, three and five were out we determined that the neutral may be missing from lights three and five so we connected the old neutral which had been dissconnected from light fitting one, the hey presto lights three and five illuminated.

All our equipment and tools were then packed up and a brew and a nice piece of cake was had by Clive, Jonathan and myself kindly donated by John who had to leave about three fifteen, don't worry half of the cake we put in the fridge for Len and John next week.

More Christmas lights next week weather permitting.
