The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 13-6-2010.

Len, Jonathan and myself showed up today, Clive was attending a radio meeting whilst John was still on holiday.
Jonathan and Len did the weekly checks on the fire alarm systems in the booking office and the Trackside pub/cafe, while I started to get all the tools and equipment we needed for the jobs to be done at Townsend Fold signal box.
Len then arranged with the driver and guard of the 9:50 train to Rawtenstall to stop at Townsend Fold so that we could offload our tools and equipment.
Len and Jonathan then set about finding out what was wrong with the water boiler, it was soon discovered that the element was open circuit and so it was taken off the wall for repair back in our workshop, a new element will have to be obtained and refitted at a later date.
I set about fitting an additional double 13A socket adjacent to the existing one, this had been requested by the signalling staff to accommodate the various electrical equipment they have in the signal box.
One of the outside lights was reported not working, this will need a return visit with an extension ladder to replace the bulb, we will do this when we return with the repaired boiler.
The signaller then arranged for the train out of Rawtenstall to stop at Townsend Fold to pick us all up and transport us all back to BBS.
We then took lunch and had a brew after which Len and Jonathan changed a faulty double florescent fitting in the station staff mess room on platform 3/4, once this had been replaced we found out the faults on the fitting, repaired it, and tested it out OK.
Another brew was taken before we called it a day and retired to watch the Footy and the Canadian Grand Prix, the Brits did well first and second for Maclaren, Hamilton and Button, if only England could have done the same yesterday, "Careless Hands".
A full compliment of volunteers should be with us next week.
