The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 01-09-2024.

Post by asbibby »

Today John, Jonathan, Colin, Sophie, Dave B, Dave S, Stephen, Ming and Barry the ELLR electrician joined me in the workshop.

Ming was with us after attending the basic safety course for organised by the ELRPS on the previous day and obtained his identification pass.

After a swift brew and breakfast barm we had a discussion about what jobs we would undertake today.

We recovered the lamp heads, which we had rubbed down last Sunday from storage and these, were painted by Colin and Sophie.
The threads which fix the lamp heads to the lamp posts were tapped and new allen key screws fitted along with some grease on the threads.

The two Dave’s, Jonathan, Stephen and Ming took on the other task of the day, which was to install six new light fittings on the staircase in Bury Transport Museum.
Three were emergency lights and three ordinary lights, these were slightly different fittings so new holes had to be drilled and plasterboard screws fitted.

Lunch was then taken with a brew and some biscuits provided by Stephen.

After lunch the crew went back to the museum to finish off installing the new light fittings.

Jack, Colin, Sophie, and myself sorted out with the help of Barry our stores at the back of our workshop a few good finds were found amongst all the detritus.
Nine lamppost covers which we were short of and a long lost gas lamp which possibly be restored?

The lamp heads were now dry and put back into storage ready to be re-assembled next Sunday and installed at Ramsbottom Station.

We had a final brew before retiring for the day to watch the United Liverpool football match on the telly.

Back next Sunday for more electrical goings on.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
