The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 12-06-2022.

Post by asbibby »

A full house of Electrical volunteers in today, Jonathan, Jack, Clive, Colin, Sophie, Stephen and myself, first job was to test the fire alarm call points in the booking hall at Bury Bolton Street Station, everything worked OK and the results logged. :D

Colin & Sophie painted in white, the Lancashire & Yorkshire stone marker posts, colouring in the letters L, Y & R carved in the stone pillars, one of the pillars was close to the water tank at BBS and the other pillar is outside of Bury South signal box.
We obtained a possession on road four prior to doing the work so as to work safely, previously you could not make out that they were L & Y marker posts, now people will be able to see them ready for the Lancashire & Yorkshire centenary gala next weekend. :)

Jonathan, Jack & Clive meanwhile recovered our mobile tower scaffold and made it ready for us to catch the 10:05 train to Rawtenstall Station to fulfil the request of the Station Master to re-install the perspex covers in the clock tower.
This was accomplished utilising the tower scaffold, the perspex was cleaned prior to being installed and then we took the opportunity of cleaning the lamp shades and getting rid of loads of cobwebs, whilst recovering three tee shirts which someone had thrown up in the clock tower. :P

We had a brew and a bit of lunch in the cafe before boarding the train back to BBS and our workshop.

One of the destination enamel signs from Heywood Station was cleaned rubbed down the treated with rust preventative before being touched up with black paint.

Finally some work was done on our mobile tower scaffold with brackets retained by jubilee clips, after we had a brew and some sticky chocolate cake supplied by Sue, Sue.. 8)

Looking forward to next week at the L & Y Railway weekend.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
