The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 24-04-2022.

:D Today on another glorious day at the ELR i was joined by Jonathan, Steve, Colin and Sophie, Clive and John were at a radio show at the Norbreck in Blackpool.

After a brew and a bacon sandwich it was on with the first job of the day, namely the fire alarm call point checks at Bury Bolton Street Station, all was well and the result recorded.

A square wooden clock case which we have been working on was next on the list, the woodwork was revived with wood restorer, it had been glued together last weekend when i paid a brief visit to our workshop. :P
Colin and Sophie painted the metal frame of the clock mechanism with black Hammerite paint after i had previously undercoated the frame, this was then left to dry in the sunshine.

We had noticed that one face of the clock tower in BBS Station was not working so we found the key to the tower and proceeded to see if we could find out what the problem was.
It appears that the gearbox mechanism is seized and will need the Cherry Picker elevating working platform to enable us to remove the clock face, to effect a repair, Mr. Law has offered to help us out with the Cherry Picker. :D

Lunch was then taken El Fresco outside of our workshop with a brew and Mr Kiplings finest apple tarts provided by Sue Sue. :)

We then went up to the Bury Standard 4 Group workshop to sort out a problem with a eight foot fluorescent fitting.

The final job was to gather some tools has we had been told that there was a problem with the water boilers in the Mess Room in the ELRPS building.
A circuit breaker had been tripping out and after a few tests we got the circuit breaker to re-set and not to trip out again.
The two water boilers in the mess room were checked, the geyser wa switched on and the water boiled, the other hot water boiler used for brewing appeared to work OK also.
Both units were switched off again before we left, notices could do with being put up adjacent to the boilers to say switch on when needed and switch off when not being used.

We then had a final brew before calling it a day, Thomas Day next weekend we shall be around with bit of luck.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
