The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 27-03-2022.

Post by asbibby »

:D On a glorious day again i was joined by John, Jonathan, Clive Colin and Sophia, we had a brew and a sandwich provided by Trackside kitchen.

It was decided to source a photocell and holder after seeing the canopy and platform lights switched on continuously, there is already a photocell controlling the four wall lights on the Trackside pub.
We went to get our mobile tower scaffold from the beer store to access the electrical distribution box on the side of the wall of the Trackside pub.
The scaffold was not there again and on looking we saw that it was in the garage were the JCB digger is normally kept, so it was off to the Bury Standard 4 Group to borrow their scaffold again.
The scaffold was erected and the installation and wiring completed, the system was then tested to ensure everything was working satisfactory.
This work will ensure that the lights will be turned off automatically when it is daylight, so saving on the electricity bills.

Lunch was then taken outside our workshop in the warmth of the sunshine, with a brew and some cakes provided by Sue. P.B.

John meanwhile was stripping down a clock which we had been given a few weeks ago, the electric motor was open circuit and John had sourced a replacement motor from his stock of electrical components.
The wooden case fell apart when the clock was dismantled, this will be cleaned, sanded down, stained then glued.
This job will be with us for a few weeks before we are able to re-assemble the clock. :P

Whilst we where getting the scaffold from BS4G we were asked if we could have a look at a fault which was on one of the machine tools in their workshop.
This is a complicated piece of machinery and after a search the manual was found with the circuit diagrams, these will be studied and we shall see if it can be fixed next Sunday.

We shall be back next week for more electrical manoeuvres, one way or another.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
