The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 20-03-2022.

Post by asbibby »

:D A full team of electrical volunteers today on a glorious sunny day, i was joined by Colin and his daughter, Clive, John, and Jonathan. 8)
We had a swift brew before starting work on the bottom light fitting which is at the bottom of the stairs leading to platform two, this is the last light fitting to be converted to LED emergency lights.
We can only do this work when the railway is not operating as we need to utilise our mobile tower scaffold.
Unfortunately when we went to retrieve it from the beer store we discovered that it was missing having only repaired it last Sunday.

I had a bright idea we could see if we could borrow from our friends, Bury Standard 4 Group's mobile tower scaffold, this we managed to do.

With the scaffold erected in the staircase we took down the light fitting so that it could be modified, new LED tubes were fitted also and the unit re-fitted and tested.

Clive fitted new brushes which he had sourced for the angle grinder which was given to us last Sunday to repair, after testing it was returned to BS4G.

Lunch was then taken in our workshop, after lunch it was noticed that the light fitting at the top of the stairs, when the power was turned off, the LED emergency lights were not working.
We removed the light fitting to find out what the problem was, this turned out to be a faulty relay in the unit, this was replaced, the unit tested and then re-installed. :D

The last job to do whilst the railway wa closed, was to clean two of the lighting units on platform 3/4 which leads down to the foot crossing.

Back next week for more electrical shenanigans.

Very sorry Alan

The scaffold was (and still is) in use to paint the pillars on P3/4 and is stored partly dismantled in the garage where the JCB is normally parked.

I doubt that there would have been anyone on site to find the key for the garage anyway.

We shall return it to the proper place each time we use it in. future.
