The Electrical Volunteers report Sunday 16-01-2022.

Post by asbibby »

8) Today the electrical volunteers consisted of Colin, Jonathan, John and myself, the weather was OK today, no wind and quite warm for this time of the year.
We had a brew first before starting the first task of the day, Richard Law had kindly opened up the roller shutter door on platform two to give us access to the overbridge lights.
The first light fitting was fixed into the ceiling using new plastic plugs as the original fixing was screwed into the concrete instead of the plastic plug.
The emergency LED's were checked on the light fitting by switching off the overbridge lights.

Two more light fittings were taken down from the top of the stairs on platform two and platform three/four, these were taken to our workshop for conversion work and fitting of six LED emergency lights on each light fitting.
These will be converted next Sunday.

The last platform light on platform two had been reported to us that it was not lit, a replacement light fitting was fitted and tested OK the old one will be tested on a later date. :D

Lunch was then taken in our workshop with an assortment of cakes from previous weeks washed down with another brew.

The final task was to investigate a problem with the two outside floodlights on each end of the Bury Standard 4 Group workshop, these illuminate the safe walkway to the C & W shed, when the photo-cell was activated the double fluorescent over the lathe at the back door illuminated as well.
Colin managed to sort the problem out by disconnected some wiring in the multiple light switches in the workshop, like they say many hands make light work!

We then spotted that an electrical board used for charging up the batteries on the carriages had come adrift from the wall on the platform edge, this was fixed temporally, a permanent fix will be done next Sunday.

One final brew and a chocolate roll or two was the final act of the day, we shall be back next Sunday for more electrical shenanigans.
