The Electrical Volunteers report Sunday 19-12-2021.

Post by asbibby »

:) Electrical volunteers in today, the last Sunday before Christmas were, Clive, Jonathan, Colin, Jack and myself, it was very misty first thing this morning and cold. :o

We had a warming brew and a bacon muffin provided by the ladies in the staff canteen before deciding what the tasks of the day would be.

The Christmas lights on platform two had been giving us a problem since last week when they keep blowing a fuse, the ladders were obtained from our workshop to gain access to the lights.
On inspection it was found that one of the bulbs had disintegrated, a new bulb was fitted and the fuse replaced, the lights worked for a short period before blowing again.
The bulb holder was then removed to find that the wiring had been damaged causing the circuit to trip out, the damaged cable was cut out and reconnected, hey presto many hands make light work.

Clive and Jack caught the shuttle DMU up to Heywood Station to return a three way electrical socket to the Station Master.

Lunch was then taken with another brew and cakes provided by the ELR. :)

Clive and Jonathan then had a look at our workshop computer which seems to be giving us some trouble.

One more brew to warm us all up and some mince pies provided by Jack, the weather had certainly improved from early this morning with bright sunshine and blue skies.

We then decided to call it a day we shall be back in three weeks time to carry on with the lights on the overbridge at Bury Bolton Street Station. 8)
