The Electrical Volunteers report Sunday 11-07-2021.

Post by asbibby »

:D Nearly a full team of electrical volunteers in today, Jonathan ,John, Clive, Colin and myself, after a brew and a catchup, Clive, Colin and John caught the first train up to Rawtenstall station to check out the clocks in the clock tower which have ceased to work.

We then did a fire alarm call point test on the information office call point in Bury Bolton Street Station. :)

Jonathan and myself had received a report that a light over the welding station in the BS4G shed was not working, this proved to be nothing more than the light was operated using a different switch from an adjacent light close to the welding station. 8)

It was then back onto the major job of the day which was to re-assemble the two newly painted and cleaned fluorescent fittings from platform three and four. The mobile tower was sourced and then erected on platform 3/4 ready for us all to fit the newly refurbished lights and take down another two. :P

Clive, Colin and John returned from Rawtenstall to report on their findings re. the clock we all then had our lunch break Al Fresco outside of our workshop.

Simon and Lewis the full time electricians paid us all a visit to see how we were getting on, that was a surprise.

After lunch and a brew we carried the newly refurbished fittings over to platform 3/4 to erect the fittings and took down two more for refurbishment, once this was accomplished, the scaffold was dismantled and taken back to our workshop where we dismantled the fittings that had been taken down, cleaned the light covers, LED tubes and rubbed down the metal fittings using sandpaper and an electric sander. 8)
These were then painted with smooth Hamerite paint ready for us to erect next week and take down another two fittings for refurbishment.

We finished off with a final brew after clearing away everything before looking forward to watching the Footie, no more to say about that, other than i write this after the event.

Probably more of the same next week, unless something more urgent pops up.

Don't know why other departments don't do a bit of a report. It could be that they're short on cake.

Anyway. Does anybody know ANYTHING about the tower clock at Rwt. I guess it was renewed when the tower was redone in fibreglass 2005.
