Jonathan and Len went off to conduct the fire alarm tests in Bury Bolton Street Station and The Trackside pub, everything worked OK and they recorded the results in the appropriate log books.

A brew was partaken of with some mince pies courtesy of BBS buffet staff.

Clive had brought in his oscilloscope so we could test the Smiths speedo and generator for 80097 which we discovered was being tested up and down Bury Bolton Street Station, after a late night by our CME working on rectifying a problem with the steam brake.

We obtained the BR drawings from the CME of how the wiring and conduit fittings are located on the BR Standard 4 engine and made up the correct length of conduit, threaded the ends and fitted connectors.
The speedo, generator and regulator will be fitted once the bracket on which the generator is bolted is drilled.

Union of South Africa was working the passenger trains which were chocker block with passengers hardly a seat to be found on the five coach train.

No electrical faults had been reported so we set off to the Bury Standard 4 Group workshop to change some electrical fittings which are well past their sell by date, unfortunately for us, a class 14 engine called Ernest was positioned where we wanted to change the light fittings.
So It was back to the workshop for a final brew and an early dart, best wishes to everyone in the New Year 2019, back with more news in the New Year.
