The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 13-12-2015.

Post by asbibby »

:D Just the four of us today, John, Jonathan, Len and myself, Clive is still down under, trying to keep out of the current bun.

Jonathan sorted out the wall heater we had taken down last Sunday, after more testing Jonathan found that the thermal cutout was operating, this was caused by some of the heater wiring catching on the fan in the heater and preventing it from working.
Once the wiring had been cleared from fouling, the thermal cutout was reset and the heater bench tested.

We then caught the second Santa train of the morning to Summerseat Station to change all the Station lamps for LED replacement corn bulbs, all fifteen lamps were changed and all the fixing screws were greased whilst we had the ladders with us.
The bulbs we are replacing reduce the wattage from 160 watts per lamp to 20 watts per lamp, a considerable saving in power consumed by each lamp.
The Santa train was caught again, taking us back to our workshop for a belated lunch, a warming brew and to dry out.
We were lucky with the weather after yesterday's down pours and managed to change all the lamps with just a bit of drizzle trying to dampen our spirits.

The heater we had been working on was then tested again before refitting the heater back on the wall with a new fused outlet fitted to replace the old neon type which was not working, the neon had blown.

Back in our workshop we turned our attention to two large Smiths electric clocks that we want to get working and install one of them under the canopy on platform two at BBS.
On testing out the clocks which operate on 240 volts AC both motors did not work, more work for next week.

 Current bun, Cockney slang for sun which is in short supply on the ELR at present.

The cakes etc. seem to have dried up as the actress said to the Bishop!

Christmas should bring us cakes with a bit of luck :)
