The Electrical Volunteers report Sunday 01-08-2021.

Post by asbibby »

:D The Electrical volunteers in today, were, John, Len, Clive, Jonathan and myself, Clive was quick off the mark with the kettle boiled, before anyone else had signed on, Yes.

Jonathan and Len went off to the the fire alarm call point checks on the BBS fire alarm panel, all tested out OK and the results logged.

Clive and John caught the first train up to Rawtenstall Station hauled by the Bury Standard 4 Group engine 80097, to see if they could sort out the electrical control equipment for the booking hall clock. Success with the change of a FET (Field effect transistor & a smoothing capacitor) it now works. 8)

Jonathan, Len and myself re-assembled the two canopy light fittings which we had refurbished last Sunday, ready for fitting once Clive and John returned from Rawtenstall.

The two lights along with our mobile tower scaffold were taken over to platform 3/4, ready for us to refit the two lights after some lunch.

Clive and John had returned to our workshop were we were overrun the cakes today, first a wedding cake from yesterdays wedding party courtesy of the Station Master, then 12 cup cakes from Sarah then a Black Forest Gateaux from Sue. :D

Once we had finished lunch it was over to platform 3/4 to erect the refurbished units and take another two light fittings down, the new lights were tested to ensure they worked OK.

The scaffold was then dismantled and the removed light fittings taken to our workshop for cleaning sanding down and repainting.

The last of the cakes were polished off with a final brew, before calling it a day, we shall be back in two weeks time.

To marmite on toast.
My grandson loves it. With pickled herring.
As to the little jobs. Someone has to do them to keep our stations nice.
