The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 13-06-2021.

Post by asbibby »

8) Just the two of us in today, Jonathan and myself, first job after a brew was to identify a fault on a convector heater, after stripping it down it was found to be a faulty rotary switch which will have to be replaced.

It was a lovely warm day but not as much sunshine that had been promised, shame. :?

The BS4G BR Standard 4 Group engine 80097 was employed today hauling the first steam service before hauling the 13:00 hours Dining with Distinction train. :D

We had been told earlier after a gas safety inspection in the BS4G shed that there should be an earth bond between the incoming gas supply pipe and the electricity supply earth point.
A suitable size earth cable was connected to the gas pipe using an earth clamp and the other end of the earth cable attached to the electricity distribution earth point 8)
The gas pipe will be painted yellow once some paint has been found.

Lunch was then taken with a custard tart each supplied by Sue Sue, it was then onto the mess room at BBS platform 3/4 to assess how to progress the fitting of a new 3KW heater for the mess room.
Measurements were taken and material sourced from our spares to facilitate the installation next Sunday, i shall have to purchase or find a spare plastic fused switched spare. :)

We shall be back next week with more electrical shenanigans. T.T.F.N.
