Re: Batteries.

I would imagine the MK2's will not be in service during the steam gala, as they are ETH only, with no provision for steam heat. Odd. The stock list I've been given says the Mk2a rake is dual heat. I'm sure I saw steam bags the last time I saw that rake... Whether they are required, or will be roste...

Re: Batteries.

Hi Mike, Simon is still looking after the batteries himself... Any problems re. batteries need to be directed to Simon. Thanks for the info. Wonder if you or someone else who works with Simon could get a message to him to take a look, as I'm not going to be in Bury for a month now. It seems the gua...

Re: The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 19th. September

The batteries are then checked to ensure they will take a charge and topped with with dionised water not tap water, as tap water does nickel alkaline batteries no good at all. Interesting reading, and good to hear 1833 is making progress. However, I thought most BRA1-type cells were lead-acid? Did ...

Re: carriage lighting (or lack of it)

Have any of you lads got or know where we can get electrical schematic diagrams for the various coaches' lighting circuits. Showing the RCH plugs, batteries, regulators, dynamo, controls and so on. Any known websites? Sorry to bump an oldish thread, but having worked the air brake set over the week...

Re: carriage lighting

Also, I'm unsure if the electricians ever actually see the defect books from the brake vans, as the notes from C&W when the defect books are checked are usually along the lines of "Electrician Informed"... The action taken by the electrician involved in the fix is never noted in the d...

Any known websites? I guess there may be someone who still works on the national network who can get ...

Thanks muchly for checking this out. :)

Guess it's a case of seeing how things go with this set over the weekend, if the batteries will hold charge, etc.

Didn't realise 1871 was quite as much of an oddball until now.

Couple of suggestions to make regarding the issue of the lights on the air brake set now it's hopefully been on charge for a day or two... 1) Can someone suitable down at Bury go and check the current lighting situation on the air brake set and report back? 2) Given the "shared fate" of th...

Re: The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 11-7-2010.

All the air brake set was on charge today. Good to hear. The issue with the BFK may have something to do with the Bar Car. The Bar Car is not fitted with an internal charger and is jumpered to the BFK via the Emergency Lighting Points so the charger in the BFK is supplying both vehicles. Flat batte...

With regard to the lights on the air brake set, the batteries and charging thereof are almost certainly an issue. However, there are other issues with the MK2 air brake set. Thanks for the info Alex. Seems like there's a bunch of issues, only one of which is the lack of battery charging. :( Just to...

Re: The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 11-7-2010.

We then had a phone call from our leader M.V. to check out the blue and white brake coach attached to the Howson bar car, apparently the internal lights were not working, we checked the lights on the brake first with the guard and they were working OK then the lights on the Howson car were checked ...
