The photo of 48773 looks like it could be under Orlando St. bridge, this loco was allocated to Bolton in around 1963/4. It had a reputation of being a good 'un. The only time I worked on it was one night on the 6PM - 02;00 AM shift when it came in onto number 4 road, (The boiler washout road) I did ...

Hi Chris, not on my computer for some reason or other, above the Board Ibdex ia a quarter inch space and above thar is the Post Reply and New topic buttons.but whatever caused my full monitor problem seems to have cleared it all went as planned today.
i'll wait and see what if anything happens.

I had no problems Mon, Tues and Weds, but Thursday once I logged on the forum covered the whole of my monitor, including the Start and task bars, the only teo ways I could get out were Ctl/alt/De;. the clicking on end task. or just pulling the plug. 47324 has LG4 and cast iron piston packings, made to the same design as the old LMS / BR ones. The 4F had the half moon style with the spring round and we replaced the cast iron ones with LG4 as they seemed to last longer. I am not sure what WCRC will use in their loco's. It doesn't sound too bad in the first clip but definitely an odd sound in the second clip, five beats and a wheeze.
what do they use for piston gland packing these days, the same cast iron packings as in BR days or some modern type stuff?
