Re: The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 8-3-2015.

I had received a pm on the forum asking us to have a look at light fitting, which appeared to have come adrift when the toilet on the end of Bury South signal box had received a bit of remedial work. After a visit to see what the problem was it was back to the workshop to source some tools and make...

Re: The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 28-9-2014.

John, Len and Clive caught the first train up to Ramsbottom Station to meet up with a couple of other radio hams who had set up a transmitting station on the platform, hello is there anybody there, apparently contact was made with another Ham in Holland. Over the weekend the Amateur Radio Station o...

Re: The Sunday Electrical Volunteers Report 18-12-2011.

The driver and guard were asked if they would stop at Townsend Fold signal box so we could re-install the hot water heater which we hopefully have repaired. The heater was refitted and after a bit of sorting we managed to stop the water leaking from the flexible water pipe, time will tell if the pr...

Thanks for the info Alan. I suspected that would be the case. I have not had any complaints about its absence and I can now pre-empt any in the coming week. :D

Re: The Sunday Electrical VVolunteers Report 11-12-2011.

Bury South signal box was our next job to provide more switched socket outlets, we provided a new ring main system from the main distribution board and upped the switched sockets from two to six sockets. This will now enable the signalling staff to have all their appliances on switched sockets inst...

Alan, Many thanks to you and your colleagues for sorting out the fan heaters for Townsend Fold Signal Box. I know at least one signalman who will be very happy about the repairs! I am sure the 'A' men will also be delighted to have a leak free water heater next weekend. I know I will appreciate it w...

Re: The Sunday Electrical Volunteers Report 20-11-2011.

On my way down from Baron Street i picked up two electrical heaters which had been removed faulty from Townsend Fold, to be looked at by us. Thanks Alan. Sig Ops are quite keen to take advantage of your services and I have another cunning plan to give you a day out in the new year, providing the re...

Re: The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 10-4-2011.

On arriving back at BBS we had lunch, before tackling the next task in Bury South signal box. I had received a PM regarding a fault with the large ring on the electric cooker in Bury South signal box, so off we went to sort out the problem. There was no power to the element and after making sure th...

Its funny how we let on to one another on the ELR and even stop for a chat with people, not realising who they are. Hope Christina`s picture idea takes off for all the departments, the new website seems to be developing all the time. cheers Nick So, we are going to get a Rogues' Gallery. It is long...

Re: Water heaters

There is also an electrical water heater in the P'Way mess room in the Undercroft that was installed new about three months ago but has not worked for for about 11 weeks out of the twelve. If you have time / inclination to check it out we would be most grateful. Mike Probably suffering from the sam...

Nowt to do with the ELR

I am risking the wrath of some forum users, but thought that this may be of interest, especially to our P'way Crew.
