Today i was joined by Jonathan, Dave B, Dave S and Peter, Dave had purchased a new GRP electrical cabinet for the replacement rotten metal box which supplied the three phase power to Rawtenstall Station Cafe carriage.
We walked down to the carriage & wagon shed to see if we could have a look at the three phase plug on the cafe carriage, unfortunately it was all locked up. so it was back to our workshop to assemble all the tools that we would require to start the work at Rawtenstall Station.
The 10:00 o'clock train was caught to Rawtenstall, on arrival we isolated the power from the main distribution board in the gents toilets and tested to ensure that no mains voltage was present.
A visit to the local Screwfix shop was called for to purchase a few items which we needed.
The old electrical box was disconnected then removed, along with the mains electrical cable.
The cable was made safe and the Station Master and pub manager informed of the work we had undertaken and that we would be back next Sunday to finish off the Cafe job.
We made a decision to come back to our workshop and fit out the new electrical box with the electrical components we had recovered from the old
metal electrical box.
This was duly completed ready for installation next Sunday.
The final task of the day was to test the fire alarm call points in Bury Bolton Street Station everything worked OK and the results logged.
