The first Sunday after the Christmas and New Year break, i was joined by Colin, Clive, Jonathan, Dave E, Dave S and Peter, we thought we had obtained a key for the roller shutter door on the staircase at the bottom of platform two to do some work on the emergency lighting.The key turned out to be the wrong key but a quick phone call to Richard Law soon sorted out the problem by meeting us with his key.
We had a early lunch and got out our mobile tower scaffold to enable us to access the lighting units in the ceiling the staircase the bottom and middle light fittings were removed and new relays fitted along with modifications to protect components from getting warm.
These were all tested by switching off the lights and ensuring the emergency LED strip lighting was activated.
We then packed away all our gear, had a final chocolate doughnut each and retired, we shall carry on with the same job next Sunday this time doing the same jobs on the staircase to platforms three and four at Bury Bolton Street Station.
