The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 19-11-23.

Post by asbibby »

:D Today on a very wet day we met up in our workshop underneath the stairs at Bury Bolton Street Station, i was joined by, Jonathan, Clive, David, Dave and John, we had a brew and a breakfast barm before starting work.

Dave had bought a new RCD switch for us to install at Rawtenstall Station after we discovered last week that the Cafe carriage was going into the carriage & wagon shed for some repairs. 8)
The socket that provided power for the Christmas lights on the platform was fitted to the rear of the carriage.

We caught the DMU up to Rawtenstall Station to effect the installation, on arrival the power was isolated in the consumer unit in the cafe carriage and the cable disconnected along with the switched outlet socket which was screwed to the back of the carriage.
Before the carriage is taken to the carriage shed the water and electricity will have to be disconnected by someone.

lunch was taken in the cafe along with a welcome warm cup of coffee. :)

The circuit to the platform lights was isolated in consumer unit located in the gents toilets and the new RCD was wired up to the shelter lights along with the recovered switched outlet that we recovered from the cafe carriage.
Everything was then tested to ensure all was well and the station staff told about the newly located switch for the Christmas lights. :D

It was then back to our workshop to check out the power supply which is used for the carriages that are parked in platform four in BBS at Christmas time. the cables used to connect the power supply were found in storeroom under the stairs on platform three/four. :)

It was then time to leave for home, back next Sunday for more electrical meanderings.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
