The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 02-07-2023.

:D Back from holiday in Iceland so today i was joined by David, John and Jonathan, Clive was at a radio do on Ashurst Beacon and Colin and Sophie were on a family do, after a brew and a breakfast barm it was decided to take a trip up the line to Rawtenstall to start the refurbishment of the station lamp heads.

Before we caught the train we sorted out a battery drill which had been given to us during the week, the battery was charged up and the drill tested OK, it was then returned to the Bury Standard 4 Group shed.

On arrival at Rawtenstall Station the weather took a turn and it started to persistently rain, so we packed up our ladder and tools and caught the train back to Bury Bolton Street Station. :(

Lunch was then taken in our workshop with a warming brew.

After lunch we all went to the bury Transport Museum to see if we could find six station lamp heads which had been stored under the walkway in the museum some time ago.
We looked under the walkways on both sides of the museum but could not find the lamp heads anywhere, they must have been removed to another location which we do not know.

It was then back to our workshop to pick up our PAT tester to test a electrical powered compressor belonging to one of the museum staff, it will be used to pump up the tyres on the vehicles in the museum.

Next task was to check out a 110v transformer which had been dropped off outside our workshop whilst we were at Rawtenstall.
The mains cable was damaged this was cut back and a new restraint fitting sourced and fitted. One of the 110v output sockets was broken so this was replaced.
The final fault was a broken thermal cutout, a new one will have to be sourced off the internet.

We had one final brew and polished off the Mr. Kiplings finest apple and blackcurrant tarts, supplied by Sue, Sue.

Found the hearing aid at Sue's thought it had been lost.

Back next week, looks like it will be refurb work on the lamp heads from Rawtenstall let's hope the weather is better, but we shall be prepared as the boy scouts motto. :D
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
