Sunday 25/6/23

Today, Colin, Jonathan, Jack, Stephen, David and myself.

Colin finished repainting the two bridge lamp heads. Left to dry.
After a brew, mobile scaffold and ladders up to the street at the front of BBS.
Refitted the two lamps on the bridge with modern LED units. And wiring changed for them to be in series.
Fitted a photocell on the south side of the clock tower and wired into the new distribution/fuse box inside the tower.
A new light was fitted behind the clocks.
All powered up and I can report that this morning (Monday) the 3 clocks were correct*
The 4th face is faulty. One day, maybe, someone will arrange for the cherry picker to access and repair it. Our attempts to obtain the cherry picker didn't work.
Then, various small repairs, lunch, a couple of brews and an early bath.

Will the people in charge of this forum please get it sorted properly. Because we are 'only' volunteers, we should not have to settle for 2nd best. Must've signed in 40 times. Evil
sick of asking

*The tower clocks are driven by ordinary synchronous motors that can only go at two speeds: normal and stopped.
So if there has been a power cut, the controller can only hold them stopped until the right time comes around. So, for example, if there has been a 25 minute power cut, the controller restarts the clocks 11 hours and 35 minutes after the power is restored.

I am not aware that there are any log in problems with the forum but maybe there are not many visitors/readers these days.

I have logged in easily.
