The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 18-10-2015.

Post by asbibby »

:D Just the four of us today, Clive, Len, Jonathan and myself, Len & Jonathan went off first thing in the morning to test out the fire alarm call points in BBS Concourse and The Trackside. All tested out satisfactorily and they recorded the results.

Clive had received a call to check out a large water boiler which had failed, this after some investigation turned out to be failed element. A new one will have to be ordered.

We tested out the redesigned and re-manufactured DMU intercom system which Clive as been working on at home. The communications unit now as new electronics in the driver to guard units, the equipment belongs in the Craven DMU and will be handed back to Graham Thornton for fitting out back in the Cravens DMU cars.

BBS shop reported that one of the overhead electrical heaters was not working, after some testing the switch was found to be faulty.
The heater was removed and taken back to our workshop to see if it could be repaired, after stripping the switch down and lubricating the switch it started to work again.
The heater was re-installed and tested OK.

Clive and Jonathan were asked to have a look at the auto-coach set as the interior lights had failed, one fuse had blown but the lights still would not work, it was decided to leave the job as a fuse box was locked.

Lunch was then taken after which we had been asked earlier on to install & wire up two additional double light fittings in The Bury Standard 4 workshop.

The BS4Group Engine 80097 was on display on platform 1 and what a great site it was attracting a lot of attention from the Gala visitors. 8)

We had a final brew then headed off home, back next week.

We then carried on converting the last two platform 3/4 lamp heads to LED fittings, these were tested and prepared ready for re-fitting next week.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
