The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 08-06-2015.

Post by asbibby »

:) We nearly had a full team out on Sunday, Jonathan, John, Len and myself, Clive was busy entertaining his son visiting from "Down Under" Australia.
Simon the ELR full time electrician was in and asked us to carry on PAT testing in Bury Transport Museum.

Simon had ordered 20mm and 25mm lengths of conduit for the electrical work which will be done on the platform two canopy project, we stored the lengths of conduit safely in our workshop.

Len and Jonathan went off to do the fire alarm call point checks in the Trackside and BBS Concourse, everything checked out OK and they recorded the findings in the log books.

After a quick brew we rounded up all the gear we would need for the PAT testing and rewiring and modification of of the lights on the vehicle information displays. There are eighteen of these information displays to modify, it is going to take us a few weeks to complete the task.

Jonathan concentrated on PAT testing all the electrical equipment in the reception desk, kitchen and education room, all the electrical items were tested and labelled the the information was downloaded onto our computer back in our workshop.

We managed to strip down two of the failed information display lights and get to the bottom of the problem, we needed to gain access the the lighting units by sawing off the welded tops were the light unit is bolted on, the reason they were loose was due to the fact that there were no nuts fastening them on the back.
Jack will try to source some nuts and shakeproof washers next week from a fastener company. 8)

It was back to the workshop for some lunch before returning to BTM for more testing etc.

Back next week for more work in BTM. :P
