The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 25-5-2014.

Post by asbibby »

:) On Sunday the electrical team consisted of Clive, myself, John and Len who had been seconded to The Bury Transport Museum doing his bit for the war effort, this being the 1940's gala.
Len was playing his ukelele along with other members of the George Formby Westhoughton Ukelele Club, entertaining the general public along with the troops.

Five refurbished carriage plug leads were fitted with heat shrink to prevent water ingress, then we stripped and rubbed down four of the lamp heads which had been taken down at Summerseat station. These are now ready for repainting, before being installed at Summerseat.

The weather wasn't too kind so we decided to take a ride up to Heywood Station, there are about four lights to change at Heywood which we will replace in the summer.

We noticed when the engine was taking water at the water tower in Heywood Station, that water was cascading down from where the water valve is located, it is either cracked or a broken gasket.

Back to normal next week, don't mention the Germans!

It's been like that a while. Needs sorting but nobody seems to want to take ownership of it.

The valve requires a frost element fitting and then the whole lot to be lagged to protect against freezing. The electrical department as done it once and lagged it, but is now in the state that it is.

If the water leak is sorted out we will endeavor to fit a frost stat. and heater again before winter sets in again. :P

Can someone report it to Bill Bailey!!!!!!
