The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 8-9-2013.

Post by asbibby »

:D Jonathan came in on Saturday stripping down some angle grinders which we had found, to see if they were still serviceable or not, it turned out that the gearboxes were shot, so they were both scrapped.

On Sunday I was joined by Jonathan, John and Len, Len and Jonathan went off to do the usual checks on the fire alarm call points in BBS and The Trackside, everything tested out OK and the results were entered into the appropriate log books.
Clive was on a radio club day at Ashurst Beacon near Wigan, which we learned later was cancelled due to illness.

A tidy up was undertaken in our upstairs stores as space was getting scarce to store refurbished light units, we disposed of some old and used electrical items which we know will never be used again, as they are now obsolete.
At least now we can see what we have in store, instead of moving stuff all the time to see what we have.

Len and John cleaned up and fitted diffusers to some tested fluorescent fittings before putting them back into our stores upstairs.

We then recovered some more redundant electrical equipment from platform three/four, a box containing a timer and a photo-cell, we then had a break for some lunch.
The chocolate cake given to us by BBS ticket inspector was then divided up and used as my birthday cake and very nice it was, thanks very much.

After lunch we proceeded to recover some old lead covered redundant wiring which was attached by lead clips on to the beams of the canopy. We also removed some old Christmas decoration wiring and rubbish from on top of the cafe.
It was then back to our workshop to cut and fabricate some metalwork for the Halloween brazier which we are manufacturing, this is an ongoing project.

After a look at some of the magnificent classic cars on BBS car park and a final brew washed down with some Mr. Kipling cakes we all had a quick wash and went home. 8)
