The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 1-9-2013.

Post by asbibby »

:D Jonathan came in again on Saturday repairing, testing and PAT testing some hand held circular saws which are used in the wood shed in Baron Street yard.

Len and Jonathan went off to do the usual fire alarm call point testing in BBS and The Trackside, no faults were found and the details recorded.

Sunday saw myself back from holidays, Jonathan, John, Len and Clive in the workshop, Mike Moore had dropped off a large black cauldron for us to investigate it's use of being a prop for the Halloween excursions.
The idea is that it will have coloured lights and a fan in the bottom of the cauldron with ribbons being blown up in the air.
We tried a hand dryer fan motor which failed miserably, followed by an expelair extraction fan which proved to be somewhat better at creating an updraught in the cauldron.

Clive and John meanwhile investigated a problem on an air compressor which had been brought to our workshop by one of the ticket inspectors at BBS, this turned out to be a circuit tripping problem which was sorted out, our kind regards for the cakes provided to us by the owner of the compressor.

A telephone was brought in for us to source a new lead has the old one had been torn out of the line jack unit plug.

Clive and Len went up to Rawtenstall to do some electrical checks at the Station.

Jonathan, John and myself then had some lunch in our workshop.

It had been reported that two lights in the mess room at Baron Street were not illuminated, so armed with some new fluorescent tubes and some new starters we made our way up to the mess room. One new tube and one new starter and all was working again.

That was it for another day in the electrical department we will probably be back on Tuesday to dismantle the old conduit and cabling on platform three/four of BBS, after the complete re-wiring of BBS platform three/four.
The dismantling will probably take a day or two to complete, there is a lot of old wiring, sockets, fuse boxes etc. :?

A few cakes were scoffed along with a brew before we departed.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
