Electrical Volunteer's Report Sunday 2nd June 2013

Post by JONATHAN-BARNES »

On Saturday I came in and did a bit more work on the carriage connectors.

On Sunday there was me, Clive, John and Simon (the full timer). We tested the fire alarms as usual. We then went into the undercroft to complete the installation of new lights to illuminate an area that is to be used as a store. We fixed a 6 ft fitting onto the wall of a dark gloomy chamber and ran the cable back to one of the fittings that had been installed last week. The cable was clipped to the brick arched ceiling using ‘P’ clips and wall plugs.

Job complete, we knocked off for dinner. After dinner we went onto the overbridge and changed some failed lighting tubes. Clive then sorted out a problem with the cordless phones on platforms 3 & 4. I went to the steam shed to look at a reported light failure in the men’s toilet. Next week we will need to go back with a 2 ft tube.

We had a brew and then knocked off for another week.

I noticed for the second week running that there is no telephone service to Ramsbottom or Rawtenstall. We would have been better keeping the old system if this is the kind of service provided by the new equipment/it's suppliers.

Hi Mark; I didn't think there were any intrernal phones at Heywood as we have no cables Bury-Heywood (yet!)

So, if there are no (external) phones at Heywood, it's probably a BT issue

Heywood is a BT/exchange issue, being sorted, if not already done.

Ramsbottom and Rawtenstall still under investigation...........
