The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 28-4-2013.

Post by asbibby »

Jonathan came in on Saturday and painted the carriage plug covers we had removed from a carriage in the C & W workshop last week, these had been stripped of all the old paint and old sealing compound, he also stripped down more of the old carriage plugs ready for refurbishing.

On Sunday Jonathan was joined by Clive, Len and John in the workshop, Jonathan and Len went off to check out the fire alarm call points as usual in the BBS booking hall and The Trackside, everything worked OK and they recorded their findings in the log books.

Simon the full time electrician came into the workshop to update us on the ongoing work on the rewire of Bury Bolton Street Station platform three/four. The conduit from the dual trunking down to the top of the canopy stanchions have been fitted along with their back boxes, all the dual 13A sockets to be fitted are of the weatherproof type.
The wooden backboard holding the new metal Rittall cabinet and isolation switch have also been mounted on the backboard, a start as also been made drawing in the new cabling.

It had been found that our mobile tower scaffold was missing some parts, if anyone knows their whereabouts please tell us, it was last used we found out, in the C & W workshop. This scaffold belongs to the electrical department and when it is borrowed, it would be nice if someone informed us as to were it is being used and by whom, a note on our workshop door would be suffice. We have already had to replace parts of the scaffold which has been lost or broken. :x

It was then down to the C & W workshop to fit the carriage plug/lead covers and a new wooden pattress on the carriage that we had replaced the plugs on last week.

Lunch was then taken back in the workshop with some fancy biscuits which Len had brought in for us to sample.

Clive went up to Rawtenstall Station to check on the booking hall clock which had been losing time, Clive will probably explain what the problems could be.

Some more work was done in the workshop on the carriage plugs before calling it a day.

Back next week for Thomas duties.

I am told the clock has gained nearly an hour over the last week. Don't know the reason yet.
