The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 8-4-2013.

Post by asbibby »

:) The electrical team were back after the Easter break, John and Clive were at a amateur radio sale in Blackpool, Jonathan came in on Saturday to carry on stripping some old carriage plugs ready for refurbishment.
Jonathan had also repaired an oil filled electrical heater which had failed PAT testing a couple of weeks ago, this was returned to the carriage and wagon shed.

On Sunday myself, Len, Jonathan and Simon our full time electrician turned up on a glorious morning, first job after a brew was to check out the fire alarm call points as per usual in Bury Bolton Street Station and The Trackside pub/cafe, everything tested out OK and Len and Jonathan recorded their findings.

While Len & Jonathan were testing out the fire alarm call points I reset the time clocks to BST in the gents toilets on platform three/four, these control the platform lighting columns and the lighting in the gents toilets.

It was then decided that we would carry on with PAT testing the electrical equipment down at the carriage & wagon works.
We loaded up the trolley with all our tools and testers and made our way down to Buckley Wells, over the past few weeks we have tested & repaired most of the power tools and their electrical leads.
The remaining items to be tested now were the 24V chargers, MIG welders and power washers, damaged leads and plugs were remade and cables repaired and insulation made good by using heat shrink tubing.
One of the MIG welders and a 24V charger failed the earth tests, we will look into this next week.

It was then approaching lunch time so we made our way back to the workshop for some lunch and a brew.

Then it was back to C & W to carry on with PAT testing and repairs, after which we called in at The Bury Standard 4 Group workshop to pick up a steel cabinet which we had left with them a couple of weeks ago, we had asked if it was possible to weld up some holes in a steel cabinet, a fine job was done on the cabinet, this will now be repainted and used to contain the electrical equipment for the rewiring of platform three/four at BBS. 8)

A final brew with some coffee eclairs were then scoffed before heading off home. :D

The clocks in the gent's toilets do as Alan said, "these control the platform lighting columns and the lighting in the gents toilets."

There is a small mains cupboard behind the door to the toilets which houses the fuse box and time-clocks

 That's why above from the original post, they are time clocks adjacent to the electrical distribution board.

Oh, I see, I once had a boss who always looked at his watch when you went in and looked at it again when you came out.
