the Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 07-10-2012.

:D Thomas day today, so John and myself volunteered to help out on stewarding the Thomas train, Jonathan and Clive carried on with our maintenance work recovering the BBS station clock from storage, prior to being refurbished, after being in service since 2008.

The day got better after a very misty start, with the sun breaking out mid morning to end up being a lovely autumn day, all the people out for the Thomas day seemed to be enjoying themselves, a good day out.

The clock was taken down a few weeks ago when work started on renewing the roof on BBS platform three/four, today the clock was taken into our workshop and Jonathan and Clive stripped the clock down, serviced the stepper motor mechanism, cleaned both clock faces and prepared the large outer metal case of the clock ready for painting.

The clock was cleaned on the inside, the internal circular fluorescent tube cleaned and the outside of the clock was given a good coat of black metal paint.

The clock will be reassembled next week before being positioned back in it's place on platform three/four.

We will all be back to our usual jobs next week.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
