The Sunday Electrical Volunteers Report 3-6-2012.

Post by asbibby »

The war weekend and what a day it was after last weekend in soaring temperatures we were brought back down to Earth with the temperature in the low teens, cold wet and cloudy.

I was joined by Len, John, Clive and Alex, after a quick tidy up we decided to test some old fittings and scrap any that were beyond repair, then Simon the full time electrician joined us and asked if we would help in a reported fencing damage at Ramsbottom, John, Clive and Alex went with Simon armed with fence mending material up to Ramsbottom.

Len and myself were asked if we could reconnect the convector heater in the Tardis, this we did to Margaret's satisfaction.

After a tidy up in the workshop two more light fittings were found which we will use as tunnel lights for Bury Bolton Street as we were short of two fittings which we had previously refurbished.
All the lights will be replaced in BBS tunnel in the near future when the weather gets a bit better, this will also have to be done on a non working day.

The fence repair gang then returned from Ramsbottom after the damage was not as bad as we thought, some wooden pallings will have to be replaced.

Lunch was then taken before boarding the train up to Rawtenstall to do a lighting check at the station, the train which by this time was standing room only.

A start was made on stripping down the two light fittings we had previously found ready for repainting.

That was it for the day as we made our way home to watch some of the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations on the telly.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
