The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 29-4-2012.

Post by asbibby »

On Saturday Jonathan came in to carry on with his work on the carriage plug refurbishment programme, he stripped down some plugs which had previously been removed and had been left soaking in releasing fluid.
Copper pins from the plugs were then cleaned up after being percolated in vinegar for a few weeks.

On Sunday a full team turned out, Jonathan, Clive, Len, John and myself.
Jonathan and myself were in first so we did the routine tests on the fire alarm call points in The Trackside and BBS, everything was satisfactory and the findings were recorded in the fire alarm log books.

The weather was awfull, wet, windy and cold so we decided to replace the fluorescent fittings in our workshop, which we had been promising ourselves a to do task for the last few years.
This job took all day first job was to rig up some temporary lighting so we could see what we were doing, we then dismantled the old light fittings, erected some box metal conduit to the existing beazer boxes to enable us to afix the new fittings.

Lunch was then taken and a welcome brew to warm us all up, let's hope the weather improves over the next few weeks, last March's weather will do.

New steel conduit was then cut and bent, threads cut on various bits of conduit, new wiring fished through existing conduit and wired up to permanently to connect up a fluorescent fitting we had put up previously.
Everything was then tested out and proved to be working OK.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
