The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 8-4-2012.

Post by asbibby »

Jonathan came in on Saturday to progress the work on carriage plugs, cleaning and painting the shells ready for rewiring.

Sunday saw Jonathan, Len. John and myself meet up in our workshop, Simon also joined us to help to finish off installing the telephone/data cables from the ELRPS HQ to the DP, (Distribution Box) in Baron Street loco works.
We had to use the long ladders to tie wrap and then clip the cables onto the wooden beams which hold the roof up, this took us up to lunch, before returning to finish off the job after we had eaten and had a brew.
The cables were then pulled into the electrical cabinet in the ELRPS HQ and coiled up ready for connecting up by the Telecomms. Dept.
We will then have a data and telephony into the building.

Having made our way back to our workshop Simon asked if we would give him a hand in running an electrical cable under the staging in Bury Transport Museum, this was tie wrapped to the existing cable tray and left for Simon to connect later in the week.
This cable is to provide some trace heating for a water supply, to prevent freezing in cold weather.

That was it for another day in the life of an Electrical volunteer on The ELR. :P
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
